
Kelly Clarkson, the American Dream was realized after her nomination for the first American Idol season. The idea was that you could be no matter where you are, and then be a celebrity, something tangible that American audiences could hang on to, and more importantly to buy. The first album she released was a massive success, but after switching to a different label, and taking more control over her style, her second album was one of the biggest-selling albums by "American Idol" alumni. There have been numerous awards she has received as well as several Top Ten hits, two multi-Platinum albums as well as a role as a mentor on a variety of singing programs. She was awarded 4 American Music Awards as well twelve Billboard Music Awards. Two Grammy Awards and three MTV Video Music Awards. There have been 98 nominations for the major awards in music and seventy of them have been given.
