Allison Chinchar, a CNN and HLN meteorologist for CNN and HLN. She is often featured for CNN's HLN Weekend Express and CNN International's HLN New Day Weekend. She worked as meteorologist for local stations in Atlanta, Nashville and Chattanooga prior to joining CNN. She covered hurricanes and blizzards in addition to flooding and wildfires, and won an Emmy for her coverage of Dorian, a hurricane that struck the Bahamas. Dorian that struck the Bahamas, in 2019. The coverage she provided of the Super Tornado Outbreak of April 2011, when more than 350 tornadoes struck the Southeastern United States over a period of four days with 200 of them happening on April 27, was nominated as well in the Emmy Awards. Her work as an environmental researcher has enabled her to write stories about climate change as well as natural catastrophes like the eruption of volcanoes, earthquakes, and so on. Chinchar earned a Master of Science degree in Atmospheric Science from The Ohio State University. She is also a member of the American Meteorological Society, the Canadian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society as well as the National Weather Association, and the International Association of Broadcast Meteorology.
