Lee Roy Selmon blends the merits of football scholarship in his family with the benefits of community service. The first time Selmon was brought up by Lucious and Jessie Selmon, on an agricultural property near Eufala located in Oklahoma as the youngest of the nine children they had. In football, he played alongside three brothers in Oklahoma. All three made All-America. Lucious Jr. Dewey & Lee Roy started for one season in 1973. Lee Roy is the winner of both Outland Awards and Lombardi Awards. He was one of the top linemen in across the country. The three years he was a starter Oklahoma finished 32-1-1 and also won two championships at the national level. In his role as an National Football Foundation Scholarship-Athlete, Selmon was given a scholarship for the third year in 1975. Selmon earned his diploma in education. Lee Roy dedicated ten volunteer hours per week during his time in college. After graduation Lee Roy relocating to Tampa which is where he played for nine years playing with Tampa's Buccaneers. 3 times he was named an All-Pro. Then he began his business career. By 1988, he became an Account Representative for Tampa's First Florida Bank. He was also involved with these organisations: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. There was no doubt that, in 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy among the top 10 young stars across the nation. Lee Roy was 6'2" tall and weighed 265 lbs in the time he played football at college. He was a captain in 1975. led the squad. He was hired by the University of South Florida in 1993 as the associate director of sports. He was named associate director of athletics by the College Football Hall of Fame was named for his on the 28th of October, 1998. GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994. Pro Football Hall of Fame, in 1995. In 1989, the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation awarded their Distinguished American Award, to Mr. Lucious Selmon and his wife. Henry Bellmon is the Oklahoma governor who made this presentation.
